Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media critic for more than 20 years. She is also a seasoned public speaker. She was the creator of Feminist Frequency which hosts videos and commentary analyzing the representation of women in pop media. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian as well as an American feminist media critique. She is the founder and executive director of Feminist Frequency which is an education, non-profit site that examines the representation of women in popular culture narratives. Dispelling stereotypes of women is her main focus. In addition, Sarkeesian highlights issues related to targeted harassment against women online and other minorities that are left out. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in social and political thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she's highly sought after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Passionate about issues of gender identity and feminism from an early age she launched her site Feminist Frequency in 2009, while studying at the University. The determined lady had planned to create a web series on gender-based representations in video games and was the subject of an online harassment campaign. The harassment didn't hinder her. It only strengthened her as a feminist journalist. Her many notable contributions in the field of feminist are recognized with numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media critic. She is also the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organization that explores pop culture depictions of women.
