Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 until April 9 2021) was known as DMX was an American actor and rapper. The album that he debuted on, It's dark and hot was launched in 1998. He began rapping during the 90s. 251,000 copies were sold within the first week. The most-sold album by DMX,... and Then there Was X was released in 1999. It also contained the hit single "Party Up (Up in Here). His singles "Where the Hood At?" and "X Gon' Give It to Ya?" in 2003 were also commercial successes. His 2003 singles, "Where the Hood at?" and "X Gon' Make It To Ya" were commercially successful. He was the first artist in history to make an album debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200 charts five times consecutively. In total, DMX sold over 74 million albums around the world. In 2006, he played in the reality series DMX: Soul of a Man, which was primarily aired on the BET cable television network Never Die Alone. In 2003, he wrote a book of his memoirs entitled E.A.R.L. : The Autobiography of DMX. [9] DMX started his career in the music industry when he was 14 in 1984 when he beatboxed in the band Ready Ron. After being imprisoned for stealing a dog He began writing his own lyrics and performing at the local recreation center for younger youngsters. While being in prison for carjacking he began dedicating a large portion of his time writing lyrics. He also got to know and performed with K-Solo. The mixtapes he sold were produced and sold following being released from prison for carjacking. It helped to establish an audience in New York. DMX was a guest on The Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show in 1991 along with Percee P who they both freestyled. Jay-Z, Ja Rule and Mic Geronimo collaborated on an appearance on "Time to build", the iconic underground track. DMX died in 2021 following a heart attack caused by cocaine.
